5...4...3...2...1...Blast Off!

This past week we started learning all about the planets in our Solar System.  Everyone worked together to paint all of the planets and we hung them up in our classroom in order.  We also did some art projects with the planets that came home with the children.  During science, everyone worked hard to create their own planet just like the Earth, complete with rocks, water, and clouds.  They all learned the order of the planets and pretended to be the planets so we could orbit around the sun.  Ask your children which planet is closest to the sun, which planet is the hottest, which planet is the largest, and which planet has rings.  They should be able to answer all of these questions.  They should also be able to tell you the order of the planets starting with the planet closest to the sun.  They can even tell you what the tiny little micro planet is called.  This has been a fun unit and the kids have really enjoyed learning all about the Solar System.

During God's Word this week, we talked about Mary and Martha.  Yesterday, everyone pretended to be Martha and practiced cleaning and taking care of the house.  Today they pretended to be Mary and learned about Jesus by looking through books.
