Discovering Animals & Practicing Our Roar

This week, Miss Rae did an AWESOME science lesson with us!  She brought in real animal skins and skulls, which she got through Arizona Game and Fish.  She also brought pictures of the animals whom the skins and skulls once belonged to, as well as a tarp painted with animal tracks for us to examine.  There was a beaver, a deer, a bear, a javelina, a fox, a coyote, a mountain lion...the list goes on and on!  I have to say that the children were a little more scared than we'd anticipated.  Many of the children were very brave, but others were a little timid!  Some of them seemed unsure whether or not the animals were really dead.  Others seemed really concerned about how the animals died.  Thank you Miss Rae for your time and energy in making this science lesson totally cool!
This week we also learned about the Bible story of Daniel and the Lion's Den.  At center time, we made lion masks and practiced our lion roars!  I'm not sure if they were more scary or more adorable!?

We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving party this Friday!  I will be posting those photos the week after Thanksgiving, as there is no school next Wednesday-Friday :).

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

We are Thankful.

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you all are having a great week and enjoyed your Veteran's Day off.  I wish to extend a Happy Veteran's Day from the Mount Calvary Community, as well as a special thank you to all our veterans.

The children are currently napping, as they usually are when I write my blog posts.  During their nap time both today and Wednesday, I worked on a very special poster for a store in our Flagstaff community.  HomCo Lumber & Hardware has donated building supplies to our preschool within the last year so to help us re-model our playground.  The children helped me create a special poster for Thanksgiving using their own handprints to communicate our gratitude to HomCo for their incredible generousity.  If any of you shop at HomCo, please extend our community's thanks for their support of our preschool.

HomCo was not the only AMAZING source of help in our playground remodel.  Many parents have volunteered their time and talents to making our playground so beautiful and unique.  We simply cannot express our graditute enough.  In fact, now I'm thinking that maybe I should make you guys a poster! ;)
Thank you to everyone who has spent time and effort improving this wonderful place where we learn, praise, and grow.
We love our new ark and castle sandbox!  Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
Here are some pictures from the week so far.  These pictures are from center time.  This week we reviewed letters G-I, as well as numbers 6-10.  We also learned about the Bible story about the three men in the fiery furnace.  Ask your child about the story to see if  they can tell you about it!
Friends at center time painting their fiery furnaces!
Cheese!
Melts my heart!
We are so thankful for every opportunity we get with your children.  Every moment is a gift!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

Noah's Ark Party

Cheetah Girls!
Happy November, Mount Calvary!  I hope you all had a happy Halloween and are enjoying the cool weather.

We had an awesome Noah's Ark Party last Friday!  I am so excited to share the photographs.  I personally was unable to attend, but the pictures look like a lot of fun!  Thank you to all who helped make our Noah's Ark Party special.  I am always in complete awe of how generous our parents are.  Your time and energy is so greatly appreciated: thank you, thank you, thank you!

Awesome costumes!
Adorable!
We love animals!

We had so much fun playing games, pounding pumpkins, making crafts, trunk or treating, passing out sweets, and remembering the Bible story of Noah's Ark.

What adorable, cuddly lions!
I hope your children enjoyed the Noah's Ark Party as much as we did.  It is truly something we look forward to each year!  Thank you again to all the amazing parent volunteers.

Keep Warm!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn
