Goodbye, February!

Today is the last day of February!  We ended the month with a super fun week of learning.  This week we learned all about the letter Q and the number 21.  We also learned about how to serve one another through reading the Bible story about Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.
Center Time

Fun activities with bare feet!
Today we had a special science lesson.  Miss Melissa, Bradie's mom, came in to teach us about muscles, bones, tendons, and joints!  She works at Flagstaff Bone and Joint, and brought in her special computer to show us what an ultrasound looks like!  We got to see a real ultrasound, and looked at Bradie's muscles, veins, joints, bones, and tendons.  It was so interesting!
Thank you so much Miss Melissa!
Have a great weekend!  Happy March!

Popcorn & Pajamas

Last Friday, we celebrated all of our reading accomplishments with a popcorn pajama party!  It was a blast.  We played with balloons, learned the popcorn dance, and watched Tangled!  Of course, there were lots of popcorn and treats involved :).
We wanted to thank the parents who brought in popcorn and treats for us to enjoy.  We also wanted to thank you for taking the time to read with your children at home, and for helping them get excited about reading.

Sorry there was no post last Friday, as I was out of town.  I will post another weekly update this Friday :).

Peace and Joy,
Miss Brooklyn

What is Love?

Happy Valentine's Day!  We started our morning singing songs about love: "Jesus Loves the Little Children," "Jesus Loves Me, Me, Me," and "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know."  We sang these songs with our puppet friend, Abigail.  Abigail LOVES to sing and we LOVE singing with her!  Then, we brainstormed on what love really is.  Here were some responses:

Love is...
...giving hugs and kisses.
...spreading friendship.
...loving.
...a school day. (Yes, that was a real student answer!)
...being nice and giving someone a present.
...hugging someone.
...drawing somebody a heart.

We also talked about the people that we love.  Popular answers were Mommys and Daddys, pets, grandparents, siblings, and classmates.

Today we also had a wonderful Valentine's Day party.  We played games, had a carnation walk, decorated valentine bags and crafts, made hand print flowers, exchanged Valentines, and shared yummy treats!  Special thanks to all of our parent volunteers for working so hard to make our party special and fun.

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day and a fabulous three day weekend!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

Books, Birthdays, and Taste Buds

On Wednesday of this week, we got a visit from the PALS Mobile.  It is so wonderful to see the children so excited to check out books!  They love visiting the library and singing songs with Miss Stephanie.  Miss Stephanie also read us two books during her visit: Moosetache and Mustache Baby. They were so silly and fun!  Here are a few snapshots of us on the PALS Mobile:
We love to read!
Today we got to celebrate a special birthday for our friend and classmate, Bradie.  We had lots of fun singing her Happy Birthday.  She even brought cupcakes to share with everyone!  Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of Bradie!  Please bless her in this new year of life!
Happy Birthday Sweet Bradie!

Today we also had a great science lesson all about the five senses, which was taught by Miss Angie.  She especially focused on the sense of taste.  Miss Angie had the children sample pretzels, lemons, vinegar, and Skittles while keeping their eyes closed.  They had to explain whether the taste was sour, sweet, bitter, or salty.  Their reactions were HILARIOUS and totally adorable.
So sour!!
I hope you all have a safe and blessed weekend.  Stay warm!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn
