Helping Hands

When we work together, we can do amazing things!
Miss Laurie wondered which color would make the highest tower.  This group decided to help me find out.
When the yellow blocks wouldn't stack any higher without falling, they made the tower stronger by adding some blocks on the side.
I think yellow was the winner!
The sensory bins are always fun to play in.
It's hard to keep all that rice in the bins sometimes.
But when the sensory bins make a mess, we just use our dramatic play tools to help clean it up!
Dramatic play is a very important part of our day.  We learned about the human body last week, and then we used our medical kit to give these babies a check-up.
They took such good care of these babies.
We take good care of our friends at Mt. Calvary too.  When a friend needs a helping hand, someone is always there to lend one.
Our hands are also busy learning how to write letters and numbers.
Around a tree, around a tree, that's the way to make a 3!
Using tongs to pick up the pom poms makes counting practice more fun!

Beautiful Birds

Last week we were busy learning all about the letter B and all of the beautiful birds that God created.

Bird Feathers and Buttons.  How fun!
We always love to read books!
Finding the hidden worms to feed to the birds.

We also had our annual Fall Picnic last week.  It was a great opportunity to get to know everyone better.  We are so blessed to have such wonderful families here at Mt. Calvary!  Thank you to everyone who joined us.

A is for Apple

Apples, apples everywhere! Last week you may have noticed that our theme was apples!  Since our letter of the week was the letter A, this was a perfect pair for the week.  We had so much fun with apples last week, and learning about the letter A too.  Apples make great stamps!  This activity is always a popular one.
It is so much fun to use your fingers to paint a picture sometimes instead of a brush.

We also practiced writing the letter A.  The light table makes this activity a lot of fun.

We read the book Ten Apples Up On Top.  Then we tried to balance apples on our heads too.  These kids have great balancing skills!
During God's Word we talked about the Story of Creation.  The kids helped us place everything on the felt board for each day of creation.

We explored things from nature using our microscopes and magnifying glasses.
God's creations are so amazing!
Of course, puzzles are always fun to do too.
Everyone worked together to find all the matching pairs for this puzzle.
