Happy Fall!

Hello Preschool Parents and Children!

It is so good to be back to updating the blog.  I am embarrassed that it has been so long since I was last able to post!  I appreciate your patience as Miss Hannah and I worked out our scheduling here at Mount Calvary.  If you didn't see the email I sent last week, Wednesday will be our new blog day!  I hope to get a new post up every week on Wednesdays.  Miss Hannah and I also figured out a more effective way to transfer pictures from our phones to the computer.  We previously relied on entirely Dropbox, which has been GREAT, although it can be really slow when there are a lot of pictures to be uploaded.  I am excited to use this new method, as I will be more capable of providing you with even more pictures of our time here at school.

Speaking of pictures, there were so many great ones to choose from, especially since it has been awhile since I was last able to post.  Since our Noah's Ark Party is just around the corner (Friday), I decided to post some of the fun fall pictures we've taken the past few weeks here at school.
Such joy!

We love to play!
I also wanted to include a few from both this week and last week at center time.  The pictures from last week were when we learned about the letter "G."  The children made AMAZING grape bubble wrap prints and made grape sculptures.  The prints are currently hanging inside the front door to the building if you're interested in taking a peek :).  They are truly wonderful.
[G is for GRAPES]
These final other photos were taken today, as we learned about Noah's Ark in preparation for our party this Friday.  Seriously, how cute are those elephants?
I think we're ready for the Noah's Ark Party, how about you?
Again, I thank you all so much for your patience and understanding with all that has happened with the blog.  I think I've finally got everything under control, and I'm so thrilled to be able to share it all with you!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

A, B, C, easy as 1, 2, 3 (and 4)!

This week we reviewed the letters A, B, and C, as well as the number four.  We also learned all about our miraculous bodies that God created.  Keeping in terms with the theme of the human body, Miss Brigid did a science lesson with us about our lungs!  Learning about our bodies and their capabilities truly reflects how much care God took in creating us-and we are so wonderfully made!  Please enjoy some photographs I've included depicting this week's activities.
Kellan is helping Miss Linda in teaching the children about their bodies.
Cuties at center time!

Beautiful girls working at the art center!
We are so greatly enjoying the blessing that is working with your children.  Thank you for your constant support and interest in your child's education!

Just a reminder that our fall bonfire is next Friday!  Hope to see you all there.  Have a great weekend!!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

Fall Father's Fun Day

Last Friday, we had our Fall Father's Fun Day!  Even though Father's Day is during the summer, we still wanted to have a chance to celebrate our fathers at school.  We had a fun afternoon with our daddies, and did many exciting things: we had a picnic lunch, a scavenger hunt, piggy back races, and a made a craft.  I'm so sorry I was unable to post the pictures on my usual post day-we just had so many that they took a couple days to load!  Thank you, Jesus, for the love of our fathers!
Sweet snuggles
We love our Daddys!
Fun!

Painting!
After our celebration, some of our dads stayed and helped work on the playground.  They worked for over two hours in the sun to help finish our new sandbox, as well as distribute wood chips across the playground.  They also dug the hole for our upcoming bonfire.  It is truly amazing to see the dedication and love our fathers have for their children and for their children's school.  Thank you to all those who stayed to help-you are fabulous, and our playground looks amazing!

Peace and Joy,
Miss Brooklyn

"God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way." Amen

Stay Tuned!

I know it's Friday, which is my normal "blog" day, but I'm waiting on pictures from our Fall Father's Fun Day today to upload!  We had an amazing time with our daddys today and I can't wait to post all about it!  Please stay tuned and check back next week.

Happy New School Year!

Welcome to all of our preschool families!  I am so glad you were able to locate and view our classroom blog.  Miss Hannah, as well as all of our other teachers and I, are so passionate about the work we do with your children.  One of our goals as teachers is to communicate your child's learning experiences with you all, so that you truly feel apart of their educational path.  We love celebrating your children for exactly who they are and for all the efforts they make at school.  I hope you might see this blog as a form of valuable communication, as well as a way to celebrate your child's growth here at Mount Calvary Preschool.  I try to post every Friday, but I apologize in advance for any time I might miss an upload.  Please feel free to share the blog URL with grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.  This blog is for you and your child and I invite you to share it with anyone you love!

For those of you who are already familiar with our classroom blog and have been checking for new updates, I apologize that I haven't posted anything from the new year yet.  I wanted to give us a couple weeks to get the ball rolling.  That being said, the children have been adapting beautifully to the new school year!  They show growth daily and I'm really looking forward to all that is to come!

This week we focused on the letter B.  We made binoculars, created a spider web, went on a bug hunt, and played with bubbles.  We also made pretend bugs out of craft supplies, and again with pretzels, M&Ms, and sugar cookies.  If I have learned one thing from my time here at Mount Calvary, it is that preschool children LOVE bugs and are absolutely fearless when it comes to anything creepy or crawly.  It is such a reminder of how every creation God makes is beautiful-I love watching them appreciate every detail of this world.  This week we also had our first science lesson with Miss Brigid.  Thank you Miss Brigid for such an awesome lesson and for devoting your time to our children!

Here are some fun photographs from our week:
Showing off our awesome dance moves and beautiful singing voices!
Cute girls and glittery bugs!
Our little spiders making their web!
Science rocks!  Thank you Miss Brigid!
We're going on a bug hunt!
We are so thankful to have your children with us at Mount Calvary this school year.  Here's to a great year of frienship, learning, and happiness!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

Happy Mother's Day!

This week was full of celebrations.  On Wednesday, we celebrated Kamryn's birthday.  Her mommy brought in cupcakes and we were able to sing to her.  Happy Happy Birthday, sweet Kamy!  You are a blessing to our community!
Yum!!
This week we also celebrated Mother's Day.  We had a beautiful party on Thursday.  Our children got to sing two songs to their mommys, and then enjoyed some muffins and cinnamon rolls.  We also made a craft with our moms.  Then, the children were able to "pamper" their mothers and give them makeovers, complete with a hair and makeup session ;).  It was the perfect combination of adorable and hilarious!  There was also a photo booth to capture this fun, memorable day.  Thank you, Jesus, for our mothers!  Special thanks as well to our parent volunteers that spent hours of their own time preparing for our party.  It is so amazing to us that our mothers work so hard preparing for their own party-you are a GIFT!!
Fab-u-lous!
I also wanted to let you know that this will be the final blog post of the year, as I am headed home to the valley for the summer.  I will be back in August, and will continue updating then.  I hope you have a wonderful, blessed summer.  Thank you for the amazing opportunity to teach your beautiful children-they touch our hearts every single day!  See you in the fall :).

May God bless you all!!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn

Hello, May!

Hello, friends!  Happy May!  It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is so rapidly approaching!  It seems to fly by even faster every year.

This week in school we learned about the letter W and the number 28.  We are also hard at work preparing for our Mother's Day celebration next Thursday.
Check out these rockstars practicing for our Mother's Day celebration!
To help us learn about the letter W, we read the book Where the Wild Things Are.  We even made puppets of characters from the book to help us bring the story to life!
What a WILD bunch!
I also wanted to share with you all the craft we made today.  We made church windows out of paper, tissue paper, and contact paper.  They look like real stained glass when the sun shines through!  I hung them in the front window of our school around Jesus' picture for our entire community to admire.  They are truly beautiful and unique.
That is all for now.  Thank you all for such a beautiful week!  Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

Peace and joy,
Miss Brooklyn
